Garment Printing Directly

DTF printing, or Direct to Garment printing, is a digital printing method that involves directly applying designs onto garments using a specialized printer and ink. In contrast to screen printing, which utilizes a stencil to press ink through onto the garment, DTF printing is particularly well-suited for designs featuring numerous colors, transparency, and gradients. It excels at producing high-quality, photorealistic images. At The Lab Factory, we employ one of the top-notch DTF printers, capable of handling large designs up to 24 INCH × 5 FT inches. For optimal results, we recommend using 100% cotton garments, and our exclusive curing method ensures that the prints boast longevity equivalent to screen prints.

  • How accurate are DTF colors?
In DTF printing, the CMYK color process, incorporating cyan, magenta, and yellow, creates a spectrum of over 16,000 colors. For optimal representation in DTF printing, adjust your graphics editor software's color mode to CMYK (typically defaulting to RGB). Keep in mind, extremely fluorescent or neon colors may exhibit slight variations in DTF printing compared to their appearance on your screen.
  • What’s your minimum?
There are no minimums on DTF printing!
  • What’s the difference between DTF and screen print?
At The Lab Factory Manufacturing, we employ two distinct printing processes for custom apparel: DTF and screen printing. DTF printing relies on water-based CMYK ink, while screen printing utilizes plastisol ink. These methods differ significantly, resulting in distinct outcomes. For intricate or photorealistic designs, DTF printing often emerges as the preferred choice due to its ability to faithfully replicate the original digital image compared to screen printing. Although both methods deliver top-notch results, certain artwork may align better with one over the other. Not to worry—our experienced sales representatives can guide you, recommending the ideal printing method tailored to your specific design. This ensures the utmost quality for your custom apparel project.
  • Why should I use DTF printing?
For intricate or photorealistic artwork, DTF printing stands out as the perfect choice, capturing every detail and color from your original design. Its limitless color capacity allows effortless replication of transparency within your artwork. Beyond delivering high-quality prints, DTF printing boasts faster production compared to screen printing due to minimal setup requirements.
  • How long do your prints last?
: DTF Printing is known for producing high-quality prints that last for a long period of time. The lifespan of your prints will depend on several factors such as the type of material used, how frequently the item is used, and how it is cared for. With proper care, you can expect your DTF printed items to last for several years without fading or peeling.
  • Do you offer samples?
Certainly! We enthusiastically accept sample orders, particularly for intricate artwork or specific color preferences. It's important to note that even with 100% cotton garments, DTF printing may respond differently due to the dye used in the fabric, potentially impacting the final print quality. Hence, we highly recommend testing any garment with unique dye before proceeding with a full production run.
  • What’s your turnaround time?
Our standard production time for DTF printing usually spans 7-10 business days, commencing upon receipt of full payment and ensuring all required blanks are in stock. Kindly be aware that adding extra services or project add-ons may extend the turnaround time beyond this window.
  • Can I mix screen print with DTF?
It's advised against combining DTF and screen print due to potential color variations between the inks used. Opting for one print type over the other is the preferable choice.
